Apprenticeships in the UK

An apprenticeship is a paid job that combines on‑the‑job training with formal study. It allows you to gain practical experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. Apprenticeships are available at different levels, from those equivalent to GCSEs up to degree and master’s‑level programmes.

As an apprentice, you are an employee. You earn a salary and receive protected time for training. Your employer and training provider share responsibility for supporting your learning.

You can search and apply for apprenticeship vacancies through official services such as the GOV.UK Find an apprenticeship website, UCAS, the national Apprenticeships service, employer websites and specialist job boards.

The main benefits of an apprenticeship include earning while you learn, gaining nationally recognised training and real workplace experience, avoiding tuition fees or student debt, and having clear progression routes into skilled careers across many different sectors.

Opportunity with the Berkeley Group

WorkPath have arranged for Berkeley Group to deliver a virtual "Apprentice Recruitment info session" just for our clients.

The session will be held on Thursday 29 January at 3pm and will cover all key information, with time for questions ahead of your online application.

If you would like to attend this session please email employers@towerhamlets.gov.uk with "Berkeley information session" in the subject of your email by Monday 26 January. Please tell us about the apprenticeship you are interested in.

If you want to find out more about the apprenticeships, please visit Berkeley Group Apprenticeships. If you prefer, you can apply directly on the website without attending the information session with the Berkeley team.

  • learn about TfL’s early careers programmes
  • understand the entry requirements
  • find out how to apply.

You can hear directly from current apprentices and graduates, ask questions and speak with managers and recruiters about different roles before applying.
