Student Placements

Young Tower Hamlets is thrilled announce that from September 2025 we will be working in partnership with universities to offer students placement opportunities!

University placements are designed to offer meaningful practical experience for students in relevant fields, whether you're seeking to build practical skills or need a placement as part of your course accreditation reach out to us.

Student Placement Opportunities at Our Youth Centres

At our youth centres, we proudly offer a wide range of student placement opportunities tailored to provide real-world, hands-on youth work experience across various fields of study. These placements are designed to support both personal and professional development, offering meaningful involvement in youth-focused programming, community initiatives, and creative projects. Whether you're seeking to build practical skills or require a placement as part of your course, our doors are open to students from diverse academic backgrounds.

While many placements naturally focus on youth work, our centres also welcome students studying subjects such as drama, music, art, videography, sports, film, journalism. We believe that youth engagement thrives through creativity and connection, and students from these fields can play a vital role in shaping dynamic and inclusive activities for young people. For example, drama students might assist in running theatre workshops, while music students could help lead jam sessions or music production classes.

Videography and film students can get involved by documenting events, teaching to produce content, or helping young people create their own digital stories. These experiences not only support your academic growth but also contribute to meaningful youth-led projects with a lasting community impact. Art students may facilitate creative sessions ranging from mural painting to digital design, bringing colour and expression into the everyday lives of young people who use our centres.

For those with a passion for sport and physical activity, placements can include assisting with coaching, organising tournaments, or leading sessions. These opportunities are ideal for sports science or physical education students looking to build leadership skills and hands-on coaching experience in a supportive, energetic environment.

Whatever your background, our placement program offers flexibility, mentorship, and a chance to work alongside experienced staff committed to youth development. We aim to match students with projects and responsibilities that align with their interests and studies, ensuring the experience is both educational and fulfilling. By joining us, you're not only gaining experience, you’re also making a positive difference in the lives of young people and local community..
